Because my windows search bar is nonexistent, the windows button does not work, nor does edge, nor does Cortana. Windows 10 has completely made my computer nonfunctional. My surge stopped syncing in August, but I was able to uninstall the app and reinstall using an older exe file, although I had to do this every couple of days.
This worked until Oct 18, and then it stopped, then suddenly synced Oct 23, and then that was it. I tried uninstalling the app and then it wouldn't reinstall. The windows store gives me the error code 0xF8F. I have checked my date and time which is apparently related to that error code and it is correct. I have done a windows store reset and that didn't work either. I think the store issue is related to a windows 10 automatic update.
I have manually downloaded the latest windows 10 upgrades, but the store issue has yet to be resolved. I have tried using fitbit connect instead, using the PC not windows 10 version, but it hangs and doesn't download either.

About the issues with the Windows store, I think that you might have to check with a computer technician or with Windows support for that; as we are not related to that specific error message. From our end, what you can try is to download the Fitbit Connect program one more time, but first please delete all other files that you have from Fitbit on your computer.

The wireless dongle is usually used on Macs or Windows 8. If your device didn't come with a dongle and you can't use a phone or tablet instead.

View best answer in original post. The Windows 10 Fitbit App will sync your Fitbit just fine. Trust me, I run it at home and at work every day. It runs on laptops, tablets, and desktops. It'll even allow you to participate in challenges.
Take a look at the Fitbit help site for further assistance and information. I have exactly the same problem and unfortunately, it does not work.

I'd like to have more details of what you're getting when trying to download the Fitbit App from the Microsoft Store. Are you able to see the app downloading? Are you getting any error message? My understanding is that I need FitBit Connect. Is that a separate app? I've tried everything else that is suggested to fix this problem. And you needed both. The former was just used to just push the data from your device to the Fitbit servers; the latter was used to look at your data and stats.
In order to use Fitbit Connect, you need a Fitbit dongle, and that came with older models of Fitbit. Naturally, you can get one from the Fitbit store. On newer computers, you can do syncing, look at your stats, and even participate in challenges from the Fitbit App.
Though, you'll need that computer to support Bluetooth LE or the Fitbit dongle. If you're on Windows 10, there is literally nothing that Fitbit Connect can do that the Fitbit App cannot.
That said, when you run the Fitbit App on your phone, in order to get notifications to work, it keeps a more persistent connection to your Fitbit. This is what Fitbit calls 'bonding'. Since this is a persistent connection to your Fitbit, it occasionally disrupts the ability for other devices like your computer to sync with your Fitbit.

It's hard to understand why the Fitbit is not more user friendly. Now that I've used the Fitbit app on Windows 10 PC for a while, I've found that it's better than I thought after discovering some helpful changes. Syncing via PC seems to save both iPhone battery and Fitbit battery.
